About Our Club

The Club's first efforts at fund raising were two international auctions.

In 1979, the club held its first pancake day in a tent behind the United Methodist Chruch with a net profit of $1,000.00 and the event became a spring tradition every year thereafter. In 1981, the Pancake Day and a bicycle rodeo were held at the First Baptist Church. In 1982, the club moved its Pancake Day to its present location, The Brentwood Middle School. 1988 ticket sales exceeded $16,000 and in 1998 the event has achieved revenues of $25,000. Every penny has been returned to the community through charitable donations for community projects and scholarships.

Another major program of the club is the membership support of the Rotary Foundation. The club has over one hundred twenty Paul Harris Fellows who have given $1,000.00 to the Rotary Foundation and many members and donors who have made multiple contributions.

The Rotary Foundation established The Polio Plus Program in the 1987-88 Rotary year to immunize the children of the world by the year 2000. The original goal of $120,000,000 in donations was far exceeded by Rotary Clubs around the world. The Brentwood Club alone had pleged $50,000 through 1989.

Over the years, the club has donated about a quarter of a million dollars to the area. he following is a partial list of recipients.
