MLB In Nashville

A group attempting to bring Major League Baseball to Nashville has picked a team name and struck a partnership — both with an eye on history.

The Music City Baseball initiative — led by board of directors Dave Stewart, a former MLB pitcher and front office executive; Alberto Gonzales, a former U.S. attorney general and current dean of Belmont University's law school; and John Loar, a businessman who has relocated to Nashville — have adopted the name Nashville Stars, which was held by a local Negro League team in the 1940s. The group also announced a partnership with the Negro League Museum.
